JKP making every effort to strengthen bond with people: DGP

*Police organizes half marathon

KATHUA, Nov 8: Half marathon with theme ‘Chal Daod Laga’ was organised by District police from Sports Stadium, here today.
About 2000 participants participated in 1st edition of half marathon. The 21.1 kms run was flagged off by IGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh while other runs including 10 kms, 5 kms & 2 kms were flagged off by DIG JSK/RP Range, Vivek Gupta.
Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh was the chief guest of prize distribution function which was organised after the runs. He said the J&K Police is making every effort to strengthen the bond with the people especially the youth and will continue to do so in future too.
Kulbir Singh stood 1st in 10 km run and awarded with the cash prize of Rs15000 whereas Balbir Kumar got 2nd place and awarded with cash prizes of Rs 10000 and Pinkay Kumar bagged 3rd place and awarded with cash prize of Rs 5000 by the DGP.
In half marathon (21 Kms) category Sunil Choudhary clinched 1st place while Hans Raj got 2nd place and Balvinder Singh stood 3rd and awarded with Rs 25000, 20000 and 10000 cash prizes respectively.
In addition, medals along with cash prizes were also distributed among participants (men / women) who completed 10 kms and 21 kms runs.
In his address, SSP Kathua Dr Shalinder Mishra thanked the DGP for gracing the occasion and boosting the morale of JKP personnel in general and youth of Kathua in particular. He said that without the support, guidance and encouragement from the Police Headquarters it would be impossible for organizing such a huge event.
OP Bhagat, DC Kathua, Ramnish Gupta and Addl SP Kathua along with other dignitaries were also present during the event.
