JKP, Arin Bhaderwah, Jammu Gymkhana, Singh CC log wins

JAMMU, Mar 15: JKP XI, Arin Cricket Club Bhaderwah, Jammu Gymkhana and Singh Cricket Club registered victories over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs’ Cricket Tournament, being organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at  MA Stadium and Mandal Cricket Grounds, here.
Earlier, in the first match, JKP XI defeated Sai Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Batting first, Sai Cricket XI collapsed at 85 runs in 19 overs. Sunny and Surinder contributed 23 and 18 runs to the total respectively. Shamsher Singh Manhas was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, while Rompy took 2. Rajesh Gill, Ashwani, Saqib and Balwan shared one wicket apiece.
In reply, JKP chased the target in 11.1 overs. Avinash Jamwal was the top scorer with 43  runs, while Naresh contributed 30 runs to the total. Sunny, Ashu and Sonu shared 1 wicket each. Avinash of JKP was declared man of the match for his good knock.
In the second match, Arin Bhaderwah XI scripted a narrow win against Danishbad Rajouri in a close contest.
Batting first, Arin Bhaderwah made a fighting total of 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Rayees Mugal (32), Abir (28)  and Habib(25) were the main scorers. For Rajouri, Firdose and Subar took 2 wickets each, while Fazon, Asif and Naseem shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Rajouri Club managed to score142 runs by losing 7 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 5 runs. Danyal (26), Zubair (20) and Yasir (19) were the main scorers. Habib took 2 wickets, Suaroz , Amir and Majid claimed 1 wicket each. Habib was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Jammu Gymkhana thrashed K C Sports Club by 9 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, KC Sports Club  scored 106 runs in 20 overs. Atif was the top scorer with 32 runs, while Arjun Chowdhari and Aarush  contributed 31 and 17 runs to the total respectively. For Gymkhana, Tribuwan took 4 wickets, while Sahil and Siddharth took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Jammu Gymkhana chased the target in 14.4 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Jagandeep top scored with 51 runs in 41 balls, while Nipun contributed 41 in 44 balls runs. Arjun Choudhari took one wicket. Jagandeep Singh was adjudged man of the match for his superb knock of 51 runs.
In another match, Jammu Cricket Club lost to Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor in an easy contest by 6 wickets.
Batting first, JCC scored 114 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Vishwajeet scored 34 runs while Manjeet contributed 27 runs to the total. Dilawer and Roshan took 3 wickets each, while Chander and Sham claimed 2 wickets each.
Singh Cricket Club, in reply, chased the target in 17 overs by losing 4 wickets thus won the match by 6 wickets. Rahul was the top scorer with 34 runs, while Sunny scored 31 runs. Manjeet scalped 2 wickets, Vishwajeet and Mukesh took 1 wicket each. Rahul was adjudged man of the match.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of IGP Jammu, while other committee members included Ashok Sharma, SP SO to IGP; Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer; Rajinder Singh, DySP DAR Jammu; Inspector Arun Jamwal; Inspector Satvinder Singh; Inspector Vishal Sharma; Inspector J V Singh; SI Vijay Kumar and SI Inderjeet Sharma.
