JKCA Green, Yellow register wins

JAMMU, Mar 18: JKCA Green and JKCA Yellow outplayed their rivals in thrilling contests of the ongoing trial matches, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association for picking the players to represent the State in prestigious Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament, commencing from March 24, 2015 at Delhi.
Earlier, in the first match, JKCA Green defeated JKCA Blue by 5 wickets in a close contest.
Bating first, JKCA Blue scored 129 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Vishwajeet Singh was the top scorer with quick-fire 40 runs off just 14 balls, studded with 5 sixes and one four, while Pranav Gupta and Usman Pandit contributed 29 and 11 runs respectively. For JKCA Green, speedster Rohit Sharma, Satish Kumar and Waseem Raza bagged 2 wickets each, while Adil Reshi claimed one.
In reply, JKCA Green chased the target in 19.4 overs by losing 5 wickets. The team needed 10 runs in the last over, when wicket-keeper batsman Raman Thaploo hit a magnificent six, before scoring two couples after the bowling of Ramdayal Punia. Skipper Adil Reshi was the top scorer with 45 runs, while Rouf Bisati contributed 40 runs to the total. For JKCA Blue, Ramdayal took 2 wickets, while Vishwajeet and Umar Alam claimed one wicket each.
In another match, JKCA Yellow defeated JKCA Red in an exciting contest by one runs.
Bating first, JKCA Yellow scored a fighting total of 145 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Jatin Wadhawan played a brilliant innings of 59 runs off 46 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes, while Amir Sofi, Manish Dogra and Parvez Rasool contributed 24, 17 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For JKCA Red, speedster Mehjoor Ali Sofi was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 26 runs in his 4 overs, while Sourav Chopra claimed one wicket.
In reply, JKCA Red fell short of just one run after a brilliant start as the JKCA Yellow bowlers hit the right areas when it mattered the most. The team scored 144 runs for the loss of six wickets, with Jahangir Lone scoring a magnificent 50 runs. Skipper Ian Dev Singh also contributed well made 43 runs, while Shubham Pundir contributed 19 runs to the total. JKCA Reds were going great guns but a direct hit by Parvez Rasool plotted dismissal of in-form Pundir, coupled with some tight overs by Rasool, Mohd Mudasir and company,  putting breaks on the Reds innings. Finally Reds fell short of just one run. Parvez,  Mudasir and Amir Aziz shared one wicket each.
