JKCA Green, Blue register convincing victories

JAMMU, Feb 18: Shubam Khajuria, Vimarsh Kaw and Arshad Khawaja slammed fabulous half-centuries, while Waseem Raza, Raman Dutta and Rohit Sharma scalped 3 wickets each as JKCA Green and JKCA Red scripted convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing T-20 Quadrangular Cricket Series, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association to pick the players for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare and Mushtaq Ali Tournaments at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, JKCA Green drubbed JKCA Orange by 12 runs in a close contest. Batting first, JKCA Green rode on magnificent half-centuries by Shubam Khajuria and Arshad Khawaja to score a decent total of 158 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Khajuria scored 56 off 41 balls with 7 boundaries and a six, while Khawaja contributed 52 off 50 balls with 4 fours and one six. Nadeem Dar and Imran Haroon chipped in with 20 and 19 runs respectively. For JKCA Orange, Sameer Ali, Vishwajeet Singh and Omar Alam claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Orange bundled out for 146 runs in 19.4 overs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 12 runs. Manish Dogra contributed brilliant 42 runs in 29 balls with 6 fours, while Ameek Khan contributed 30 runs off 26 balls with 3 boundaries and a six. Vishwajeet Singh, Abid Mushtaq and Rohit Bhat chipped in with 19, 15 and 13 runs respectively. For JKCA Green, Raman Dutta was the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 3 wickets by conceding 18 runs in his 4 overs, while Abid Nabi claimed 2 wickets by giving away 42 runs in his 4 overs. Arshad Sheikh, Mehjoor Ali and Rahil Singh claimed one wicket each.
In another match, JKCA Blue defeated JKCA Red by a narrow margin of 11runs. JKCA Blues, while batting first, scored a fighting total of 150 runs in 19.5 overs. Fayaz Hazari was the top scorer with 37 runs off 29 balls, studded with 4 fours and one six, while Hilal Ahmed, Aditya Partap and Parminder Singh contributed 25, 23 and 22 runs to the total respectively. Amir Aziz chipped in with 4-ball unbeaten 11 runs with one four and one six. Speedster Rohit Sharma and left-arm spinner Waseem Raza took 3 wickets each, while medium pace bowler Samiullah Beig and left-arm spinner Vijay Dogra claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Red, despite Vimarsh Kaw’s magnificent fifty failed to chase the target in the allotted 20 overs as they fell short by 11 runs, scoring 139 runs by losing 6 wickets. Kaw scored 52 off 55 balls with 5 fours and one six, while Paras Sharma contributed well-made 26 runs off 24 balls, studded with one fours and one six. Syed Sagar contributed unbeaten 17 runs off 9 balls, with one four and one six. For JKCA Blue, Mohd Mudasir and Manik Gupta bagged 2 wickets each, while Asif Rasool claimed one wicket.
The match was officiated by BCCI Level-1 umpires Amit Gupta and Sudhir Singh, while the BCCI Panel scorer, Ashwani Kumar maintained the scorebook.
The matches are being observed by a panel of senior selectors of JKCA including Abdul Rauf, chairman, Shiban Lal Trakroo, Shahid Parvez, Iqbal Shah and Tilak Singh.
