JKCA election deferred

JAMMU, Sept 9: The election of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) of Jammu District has been deferred owing to some disputes in the participating clubs.
The election was deferred by Advocate Kapil Sharma, Observer appointed by the JKCA and Magistrate from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu office after some dispute between the clubs over voting rights.
For the post of President, Vijay Sabharwal and Vinod Sharma have filed their nominations, whereas for Vice President post, Sarthak Khoda and Mohit Puri have filed their nomination. Iqbaldeep Singh and Sham Singh Langeh have filed their nominations for the post of General Secretary, whereas Sheshu Paul and Ashwani Goswami have filed their nominations for the post of Joint Secretary. Gourav Kumar and Shubam Verma have filed their nominations for the post of Treasurer.
Owing to some voting rights, a dispute took place and the election was deferred.
When contacted Observer Advocate Kapil Sharma told the EXCELSIOR that to resolve the disputes, a meeting of the contesting candidate with their one associate has been called on September 11, 2020 and hoped that the election will be conducted next week.
When asked about the allegation of some clubs regarding nomination filed by Vinod Sharma without resigning from Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) where he represents Jammu and Kashmir, Advocate Kapil Sharma said that his nomination will be cancelled if the allegation were proved.
However, all the participating clubs have sought intervention of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JKCA Ashiq Bukhari for conduct of free and fair elections.
