J&K XI to take on Mohan Bagan in Goodwill Football match

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: J&K XI will take on Mohan Bagan Club, Kolkata, in the Goodwill Football match on September 8 at Bakshi Stadium.
This was stated by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, RS Chib, while addressing a press conference at Youth Hostel, Srinagar here today.
He said that the event is being organized by J&K State Sports Council in collaboration with J&K Football Association. He said that the Mohan Bagan team comprising 31 members including players and technical staff has arrived at Srinagar. The first match of the event will be played at 3:30 pm on September 8 at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, while as the second match of the event will be played at Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, on September 11. The Matches will be relayed live on television.
Chib termed the goodwill match as mega event for which he said all arrangements have been put in place. He said over 28,000 entry passes have been distributed so far and hoped that more spectators would come to witness the match.
Responding to a question, Chib said that the Government has prepared a project for renovation and upgradation of Bakshi Stadium, Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium and Moulana Azad Stadium, Jammu.  Three synthetic football stadia are also being developed to give added facilities to the sports persons.
Announcing the name of the players of team, Chib said that Vikramjeet Singh will be the Captain of JK-XI, while, Asif Majid will be the vice captain.
Among others present were Director Information, Zaffar Ahmad, Director, Youth Services and Sports Jaipal Singh, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Dalip Thussu, president, J&K Football Association, ZA Thakur and joint secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Prof Bashir Ahmad.
