JAMMU, May 7: Asian Games medalist Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, National Games medalist Abhishek Jamwal and Khelo India National League Champion Jiya Manhas retained the titles in the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship, being organized at Moscow from May 2 to 8.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh secured Gold medal in 60 Kg, whereas Abhishek Jamwal Secured Gold medal in 56 Kg and Jiya secured Gold in below 39 Kg (Sub-Junior), besides Aman Singh and Priyanshu Singh secured Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Abhishek Singh Jamwal are the best probables for the Asian Games scheduled to be held at Hangzhou (China) from 23rd September to 8th October 2023.  Both the players are in the National coaching camp. The next phase of the coaching camp will be held at Srinagar from June 5.
Pertinent to mention here that Abhishek Singh Jamwal remained the lone Gold medalist in the 36th National Games, whereas Bhanu is the only Asian Games medalist in the UT J&K.
Surya Bhanu Partap is Asian Games medalist, two times Bronze in World Championship, two medals in World Cup and Gold in South Asian Games, whereas Abhishek Singh Jamwal has 11 national medals and four international medals and he remained lone Gold medalist in the 36th National Games.
Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) National Chief Coach of India expressed gratitude to Secretary J&K Sports Council for taking the Wushu sports to new heights and making it capable of holding any National and International event in UT J&K.
He also thanked Sports Authority of India and Wushu Association of India for the immense support and holding of the National Wushu Coaching camp at Srinagar for the 19th Asian Games. Wushu Association president and other office bearers also congratulated the medalists.
