J&K wins 7 medals in Taekwondo Nationals

JAMMU, Sept 15: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association State team participated in 33rd Senior National Taekwondo Kyorugi and 7th Senior National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships at Swai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in Rajasthan.
The Championship was organized by Taekwondo Federation of India.
The State team won 7 medals including 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medal. The employee of the Youth Services and Sports Department, Atul Pangotra, Commonwealth medalist and State awardee retained his title and won gold in the 2nd Senior Individual Category. He is winning gold since 2008.
He has already won bronze medal for India in Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship and he is selected for the 9th World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship to be held in Mexico from October 28 to November 2, 2014.
Arvind Satti, Sunil Singh and Tashi Tundup won silver medal in the team event and lost 1st place in a tough competition against Services.
In dual pair event, Tashi Tundup and Shahnaz Parveen won silver medal, while Brinder Singh Manhas, PET from Doda District won bronze medal in 1st Senior Individual category.
Chairman J&K Taekwondo Association Anil Gupta, others members of the Association and the coaches have lauded the efforts of Mr Pangotra for this achievement.
Mr Pangotra thanked Raman Bhalla, Minister for Sports; Dileep Thussu, Secretary J&K State Sports
Council and Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Commissioner Secretary Technical Education and YSS for providing the requisite support.
The other members of State team included Sanjay Kumar, Atul Pangotra, Anuj Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Burhan Khan, Sunil Singh, Arvind Kumar Satti, Shazia Batool, Shahnaz Parveen, Sunil Singh, Adnan Beig, Anil Khajuria, Yashumant, Nitish Anand and Rajat Thakur.
All the medal winners have dedicated their medals to the flood victims.
