J&K Tug of War players excel as India wins gold in Nepal

JAMMU, June 5: Part of the Indian teams in different categories, five players from Jammu and Kashmir excelled in the recently held 3rd Gold Cup International Tug of War Championship held at Kathmandu in Nepal.
On their return, Gourav Kumar Dubey, Sourav Kumar Dubey, Umer Mehraj, Narinder Chib and Kiran Kumari were felicitated by Jammu and Kashmir Tug-of-War Association with president, Hardeep Singh Anand garlanding the medal winners here today.
He interacted with the players and congratulated them for the achievement.
While Gourav Kumar Dubey, Sourav Kumar Dubey, Umer Mehraj and Narinder Chib won gold in 640 Kg event, Kiran Kumari was part of the team winning gold in 560 Kg Mix final.
The Indian team has dominated in all three editions of the Gold Cup winning first position all times, a handout issued by the J&K Tug of War Association here today informed.
“It was for the third time that our team won two-day Third Gold Cup International Tug-Of-War Championship held at Kathmandu in Nepal from May 30,” an official of the Association mentioned.
Prominent among others present were Jodh Singh Isher (general secretary), Jasbir Singh (vice president), Jatinder Pal Singh (joint secretary), Dr. Vinod Shastri and Ravinder Singh.
