J&K State Wrestling Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 30: Jammu and Kashmir State Wrestling Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association was inaugurated in an impressive and well attended function at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalimar Road, here today.
The Championship was declared open by Prateek Bhushan Singh, Member Legislative Assembly from the State of Uttar Pradesh as the chief guest, while Dr Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary J&K Olympic Association was the guest of honour.
Earlier, Dushyant Sharma, Former International Wrestler and Former President Wrestling Federation of India presented welcome address.
Around 120 Wrestlers including men and women drawn from various districts of the Country participated in the Championship.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest threw light on the benefits of games and sports in every sphere of life.
He said Jammu and Kashmir possesses ample talent, but the need is to hunt and explore it at the bud.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vijay Pahalwan, Pradeep Sharma (President Bajrangi Akhara), Ajay Vaid (General Secretary J&K Wrestling Association), Raju Sharma, Swarn Lal and Om Prakash.
The Championship will conclude tomorrow.
