JAMMU, Dec 19:  The J&K State Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior and Senior Karate Championship was declared open at MA Stadium, here today.
The two day Championship is being organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir (AKAJK) recognized by J&K State Sports Council affiliated to Karate Association of India (KAI) and recognized by Govt. of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports).
Over 400 participants drawn from the districts of Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag,, Kupwara, Kishtwar, Leh, Kargil, Udhampur, Baramulla and Pulwama  are participating in the tournament.
The medal winners of the all the categories of the State will get the opportunity to participate in KAI  Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior, National Championship  to be held from May 11 to May 14, 2017 at New Delhi and Kai Senior National Karate Championship to be held from February 25 and 26, 2017 at Goa .
Zamir Ahmed Thakur, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Kashmir and Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, Jammu were the chief guest and guest of honour.
Faiz Ahmed , Nazeer Ahmed Bhat and Rahil Gupta, Member State Sports Council presided over the function while Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer (Division), Haji Abdul Quiyum (CSO), Ashok Singh, Satish Gupta and Ravi Singh were the special guest on the occasion.
Joint Secretary Kashmir and Jammu give the assurance to Ambedkar Gupta president AKAJK and all the players of Karate for providing all type of facilities and support to promote this sport of Karate in Jammu and Kashmir.
Anil Gupta presented vote of thanks.
Umesh Rekhi, qualified Kumite Judge from Karate Association is the organizing secretary of the Tournament, Amit Kumar Sangra is the tournament Technical Director.
The tournament is being conducted as per the rules and regulations of WKF/ KAI and under the technical supervision of Shihan Rajneesh Choudhary Refree & Judge “A” (AKF), Refree Commission Member (KAI) from New Delhi.
The results are:- Under 10 yrs Girls Kumite: Anjali Sharma(Gold), Kashvee (Reasi) Silver Tamana (Jmu) Bronze Rupali (Jmu) Bronze
10yrs Kumite Boys -34kg: Sushant (Reasi) Gold, Rashid Shafi (kupwara) Silver, Gagan Kanathiya (Jmu) Bronze ,Sayam Sharma (Rajouri) Bronze
10yrs +34kg Boys: Adil Basir (Kargil) Gold, Yuv Pratap Singh (jmu) Silver, Vedang Kumar (Jmu) Bronze, Usman Amin (Baramulla) Bronze
Under 10yrs Boys: Kirtimaan (Kargil) Gold, Annirudh Singh (Jmu) Silver, Sidharth Raina (Reasi) Bronze,  Devesh Mahajan (Rajouri) Bronze
Sub Junior 10 yrs.- 35kg Girls: Sarleen Kaur (Jammu) Gold, Kajal Kokeru (Jammu) Silver, Garima Singh (Jammu) Bronze.
