JAMMU, Dec 19: Saswati Bandopadhyay, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Northern Command) inaugurated the 6th All India Defence Accounts Department Volleyball Tournament at PCDA Sports Ground in a colourful and impressive opening ceremony, here today.
The tournament which will witness 12 teams in men’s category and 4 teams in women’s category competing for top honours, will be held from December 19 to December 23, 2016. The final matches in both the categories will be held on December 23, 2016.
These teams represent offices of Defence Accounts Department, which is one of the oldest Department of the country providing payment and audit services to Defence forces located across different parts of country.
While speaking on the occasion, Principal Controller highlighted the importance of such a tournament, which are held under the Defence Accounts Sports Control Board and emphasized that it is the forum for mutual understanding and showcases the all India character of 266 years old histories department.
Earlier, RK Pandey, Additional Controller welcomed the members of all participating teams and stressed the need to use these events as a platform for strengthening the bond of mutual cooperation.
