J&K State Karate Championship concludes

JAMMU, Dec 23: J&K State Karate Championship 2018 Sub Junior Open, Cadet, Junior and Senior concluded at Mahajan Hall, here today.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC and Dr SM Bali, Joint Secretary Indian Olympic Association (IOA) distributed medals among the winners.
The championship was organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir recognized by J&K State Sports Council affiliated to Karate Association of India (KAI) recognized by Govt. of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports) member World Karate Federation (WKF) and Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF) recognized by International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Over 600 Karatekas from different districts viz Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora, Kupwara, Udhampur, Kargil, Kishtwar, Doda, Shopian and Samba participated in the tournament.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open on the first day by Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Secretary J&K State Sports Council.
The events of Sub Junior categories were conducted on the first day and the Cadet, Junior and Senior categories were conducted on 2nd day of the tournament.
Mr Gupta was the chief guest, while Dr Bali was the guest of honour on the closing ceremony.
Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Vice President AKAJK is the Chairman of the tournament, while Anil Gupta, Chairman AKAJK, Rahil Gupta, Vice President AKAJK, Vishal Sharma, President Jammu District Karate Association/ Organizing Secretary of the tournament, Tilak Raj Gupta, Lecturer Physical Education, Ajeet Upadhyay and Aman Sharma, Social Activists were the other guests present on the occasion.
Ambedkar Gupta, National Karate Team Coach was also present on the occasion.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor appreciated the efforts being made by the association to promote karate in every corner of the state and expressed his immense pleasure to see that the players have come across from the far away districts like Kargil.
He encouraged the players especially girls to keep doing better in the field of Karate. He also distributed medals among the winners in their respective categories.
Dr SM Bali, Joint Secretary Indian Olympic Association (IOA) also appreciated the efforts being done by Ambedkar Gupta and his team to promote genuine karate in State.
The gold medal winners in various categories included Kalyan Khajuria (Jammu), Aqueel Shafi (Kargil), Tanveer Hussain (Kathua), Aarush Puri (Jammu), Musavir Ahmad (Srinagar), Sudixit Mansotra (Kathua), Abhiraj Singh, Ahtisham-Ul-Mehdi, Danish Nazir, Javid Ahmed Malik, Khadim Ali, Dev Priya, Manvi Puri, Amit Sharma, Sumit Sharma, Nikhil Rajput, Rajat Singh, Abhijeet Singh, Zorawar Singh and Sahil Singh.
