J&K Sports Climbers win two medals in Nat’l C’ship

JAMMU, Apr 9: Two Sports Climbers from Jammu and Kashmir showcased their skills well at the 17th St. Stephen’s College Delhi’s Open National Sport Climbing Competition by earning two medals.
The 17th St. Stephen’s College Delhi’s Open National Sport Climbing Competition was held from April 6 to 7 in which two J&K Climbers won 2 medals including 1 Gold and 1 Bronze.
Shivani Charak of J&K, the top ranked sport climber of the country won Gold medal in lead Climbing in the Women category and was set to bag the top position in speed climbing also when she generated terrific speed but unfortunately a slip deprived her of a medal.
In the sub junior girls category Ayaana Bhagat won Bronze medal. The promising climber had a dream run on the climbing wall. She matched her senior climbers of Delhi in strength & every move. In fact, the first three climbers achieved the same height and the result had to be determined on the basis of time taken to reach that height in which she secured the third place. Ayaana excelled in speed climbing also and reached the semi final round but had to contend with the 4th place.
In the Sub Junior Boys category Aradhya Manhas performed well to qualify the preliminary round but could not do much in the next round in the face of a tough competition among the top climbers of the country.
