J&K shines in National Fencing C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 1: J&K Fencers excelled in the 29th Junior National Championship by winning various medals in different categories, held recently at Sonipat Haryana from December 25 to 28.
The players who brought laurels to J&K included Shreya Gupta, Anant Samakshi, Kritarthi Kotwal and Subhanaya Sharma in girls category, while Mayank Sharma, Lakshya Sharma, Amit Chib and Suryansh Sharma in boys category.
In this regards, a felicitation function was organized by J&K Sports Council in collaboration with Adhoc Committee of JKAFA at Fencing Hall MA Stadium, here to honour medal winners, wherein Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul honoured the individual medal winners, team of Sabre players, both men and women.
The Secretary, Sports Council congratulated the medallists, coaches and members of the Adhoc Committee for the superb performance in the championship and wished good luck for their future endeavours.
Rajeev Sharma, president Hockey J&K who was the guest of honour on the occasion also congratulated the winners and promised to provide the latest equipment to medal winners.
Rashid Ahmed, convener of the Adhoc Committee presented the record performance of the players observed in the said championship and expressed special gratitude to J&K Government and Sports Council for providing requisite sports facilities and support.
Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Ashok Singh, Satish Gupta, Manager, Indoor Sports Stadium Jammu, Shotu Lal Sharma, Maninder Pal Singh, Supriya Chouhan, Rachna Jamwal, Anthony Mattoo, Pritam Singh, Tony Mattoo, Suniya Arora, Shifali Gupta, Rahul Sharma, Vishal Thapar besides parents, officials from the Sports Council were also present during the occasion.
