J&K secure 5th place in National Wushu C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 3: The Wushu team from Jammu and Kashmir secured fifth place in the 23rd Senior National Wushu Championship, which was held at Patna, Bihar recently.
In the competition, J&K Wushu team bagged 5 medals and remained at 5th position, whereas, Haryana topped in Medal tally followed Manipur, SSCB and CRPF at second, third and fourth place respectively.
The five players from J&K, who got medals in this competition, have been selected for the National Coaching Camp for the World Championship.
From J&K team side, Khalida Bano defeated World Silver Medalist of UP in 75 kg category, Anju Bala lost to Manipur in final bout in 56 kg category, whereas Stanzin Youthok and Atul lost semi final bouts and secured bronze medals. Pardeep Singh of J&K representing CRPF secured Gold medal in the 70 kg category.
President of Wushu Association of J&K HK Lohia felicitated the medalists and wished them luck for the forthcoming World Championship.  Ranjeet Kalra, vice president, Kuldeep Handoo, general secretary of Wushu Association of J&K and other office bearers of the Association were also present.
In this competition, around 750 Athletics from 41 Units of Wushu Association of India participated.
