JAMMU, Feb 2: Brilliant team work and cohesiveness helped Jammu and Kashmir to script its 3rd consecutive win in the ongoing Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament at Nadaun in Himachal Pradesh, today.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu and Kashmir scored a decent total of 156 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Shubham Khajuria was the top scorer with 68 runs off 57 balls, studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Mithun Manhas contributed unbeaten 31 off 23 balls including 4 boundaries and skipper Ian Dev Singh scored valuable 27 off 29 balls. Ahmed Banday chipped in with brisk 15 runs off 10 balls. For Haryana, Harshal Patel, Deepak Hooda and Bishnoi claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Haryana managed to scored 152 runs in the allotted overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 4 runs. Shivam Chauhan top scored with 43 runs off 27 balls, while Rajat Paliwal contributed 31 runs. Rohilla andRahul Tiwari scored 28 and 16 runs respectively. Ramday took 2 wickets for J&K, while Umar Nazir, Deepak Dogra, Manik Gupta and Manzoor Dar claimed one wicket each.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Ashinder Kaul as manager and Abdul Qayoom as coach, while Mithun Manhas is the head coach, Dr Aijaz Chillu is accompanying the team as Physiotherapist, while Mushtaq Rather is the trainer. Joint Secretary of JKCA (Kashmir wing), Shiban Lal Trakroo is the match observer.
Meanwhile, Minister for Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, General Secretary of JKCA, Iqbal Ahmed Shah and former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Working Committee Member JKCA, Ankush Abrol has congratulated the team for third consecutive win against formidable Haryana.
It is pertinent to mention here that the team was selected by the senior selectors of JKCA namely Vivek Sharma, Zahoor Bhat, Arshid Bhat and Pardeep Bali.
