J&K Karatekas excel in Open International C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 1: Eighteen players of  Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association participated and won good number of medals in the 3rd ASSKA International Open Karate Championship, organized by Asian Shito-Ryu Sports Karate Do Association at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.
Seven countries namely Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, Bhutan, Malaysia and India participated in the Championship.
The medal winners were Ranjeet Singh, Aadesh, Suksham Sharma, Nityam Talwar, Ajay Kumar, Amit Sharma and Aijaz Majeed Lone, Olive Trehan, Tanisha Mahajan (all gold) in Kumite.
Divaker Rumbal and Mohd Murtaza Khan clinched silver medal in Kumite, while Narinder Singh, Nitin Kumar, Twinkle Trehan, Ansh Bandral and Atul Singh bagged bronze in Kumite.
The coach accompanying the medal winners was Umesh Rekhi, President, Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association, Referee KAI and 5th Dan Black Belt and Tarun Sharma General Secretary,   Dhammika Kai Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association, Judge KAI , 3rd Dan Black Belt and Founder & President Nat Manch. Vikas Charak accompanied the Team as Manager.
Coach Umesh Rekhi bagged gold in Kata and Kumite and Tarun Sharma claimed gold in Kumite in senior male category.
