
*Jammu emerges overall Champion

JAMMU, Mar 29: The J&K Gymnastics Championships concluded today with a grand prize distribution ceremony at the Gymnastics Academy, M.A Stadium, Jammu. The event witnessed participation from eight districts, including Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Poonch and Jammu.
Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Transport Commissioner, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He applauded the efforts of the Gymnastics Association of J&K for organizing the championship on a large scale and expressed his delight at the exceptional performances showcased by the gymnasts. He distributed prizes to the winners in various categories.
Jammu emerged as the Overall Champion of the championships, followed by Kathua as the runner-up and Reasi as the second runner-up. The Best Rhythmic Gymnast award was presented to Muskan Rana, while the Best Aerobic Gymnast went to Ruddrakash Khanna, and the Best Artistic Gymnast was awarded to Deepesh Dogra.
The Artistic Gymnastics results were as follows: Under 8 Boys: 1st – Mahir Balal Thapa (Jammu), 2nd – Aayan Khajuria (Jammu), 3rd – Zorawar Singh & Priyanshu Goel (Jammu); Under 10 Boys: 1st – Rohinya Proch (Jammu), 2nd – Ashish Verma (Reasi), 3rd – Sanmay Gupta (Jammu); Under 12 Boys – Floor Exercises: 1st – Ashisva Proch (Jammu), 2nd – Veerabhadra Singh (Jammu), 3rd – Bharat Singh (Reasi); Under 12 Boys – Table Vault: 1st – Veerabhadra Singh (Jammu), 2nd – Ashisva Proch (Jammu), 3rd – Avikam Gupta (Jammu).
In Rhythmic Gymnastics, the results were: 11-12 Years Girls – Freehand: 1st – Saanvi Sharma (Jammu), 2nd – Avni Suri (Jammu), 3rd – Meera Wadhawan (Jammu); Under 14 Girls – Hoop: 1st – Pallavi Sharma (Jammu), 2nd – Kalyani Chadha (Jammu), 3rd – Jasmeh (Jammu); Under 16 Girls – Clubs: 1st – Advita Choudhary (Jammu), 2nd – Prachi Sharma (Jammu), 3rd – Triza Balal Thapa (Jammu).
In Aerobic Gymnastics, the results were: Youth Boys: 1st – Ruddrakash Khanna (Jammu), 2nd – Deepesh Dogra (Samba), 3rd – Pratik (Jammu); Senior Boys: 1st – Vivek Sumbria (Kathua), 2nd – Vikas Gupta (Jammu), 3rd – Badal Kumar (Kathua).
The championship also highlighted the impressive achievements of J&K gymnasts, including Ruddrakash Khanna, Muskan Rana, Manya, Vaibhavi, Advita, Riya, and Triza Balal, who have earned selection for various international competitions, further solidifying the region’s growing prominence in the gymnastics arena.
Kiran Wattal, Vice President GFI & President GAJK, expressed gratitude to the J&K administration under the patronage of LG Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Sports Minister Satish Sharma for their collective support for the promotion and development of gymnastics in J&K. He further showed his gratitude to Sarmad Hafiz, Commissioner YSS, and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council for their continuous support to GAJK as well as the gymnasts of J&K. Wattal further announced plans to host the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships in September 2025, a major event set to showcase gymnastics at an international level. He also praised the gymnastics coaches whose trainees have excelled at the national arena, especially Arjuna Awardee Krupali Patel Singh and Manisha Gupta. He also praised S.P. Singh for organizing this championship in a technical and flawless manner.
Prominent sports personalities including Vijay Saraf, Baljinder Pal Singh, DSO Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Rajan Sharma, Anil Khajuria, Tejinder Singh, and Tarsem Lal attended the event.
