J&K boys stun former champions MP

JAMMU, Nov 23: After bowing down to hosts Karnataka in their maiden outing J&K boys registered convincing victories over former champions MP and Puducherry in the 33rd youth national basketball championship at Hassan in Karnataka.
J&K fumbled against hosts in the opening match and inexperience of playing in indoor wooden court was quite evident from the beginning, it took time for JK boys to come to terms with conditions and 3000 strong crowd cheering for the home team. JK boys could mot make up for initial loss and went down fighting 61-38.
In their second pool match JK boys registered an upset win beating former champions MP 71-46. MP boys were taller and more experienced but They were taken by surprise by aggressive defense put in by JK boys.
In the third match played on wednesday JK boys completely routed Pudducherry 97-54. Gourav Rajwal, Sumit Kumar, Abhinav Sharma and Shivam Heer were the mainstay of JK teams performance.
J&k is now one step away from qualifying for level-1 pf the youth national championship. Aman Sharma senior SAI coach of STC jammu is accompanying the team.
