JAMMU, Jan 10: Jammu and Kashmir boxers created history by qualifying for the pre-quarter final stage in the ongoing 1st Elite Men National Boxing Championship at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Apart from creating history by qualifying for pre-quarterfinal stage for first time in Nationals, J&K boxers are at top in the medals tally also in 1st Elite Men National Boxing Championship.
The J&K boxers, who qualified for the pre-quarter final stage are Pardeep Sharma in 49 kg category, Madan Lal in 52 kg category, Nitin Sharma in 56 kg category, Dheeraj in 60 kg category, Ashish Jasrotia in 64 kg category, Harpal Singh in 69 kg category and Nizam in 80 kg category.
The J&K boxing squad has been led by senior boxing coach Anil Wadhera and Dr Nirmolak Singh, general secretary, J&K Boxing Association.
The six-day long championship is being organized by Maharashtra Boxing Association under the aegis of Boxing India Federation at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
