J&K boxer in semis of Sub Jr National C’ship

JAMMU, July 6: A young boxer of Jammu and Kashmir, hailing from Poonch, Mohd Zahir qualified for the semifinals to ensure a medal in the ongoing Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship at Rohtak in Haryana.
To reach the last four stages in 52 kg weight category, Zahir defeated three boxers in the preliminary rounds.
“In the quarterfinal, Zahir defeated a boxer from Bihar. Earlier, in the first round and pre-quarterfinal stages, Zahir outplayed Naman Sharma of Rajasthan and Badal of Himachal Pradesh respectively,” General Secretary of J&K Amateur Boxing Association, Rajan Sharma said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Association for the first time organised the coaching camp at district Poonch to train the boxers in quality environs.
