J&K Bank XI, Lone Star Kashmir FC, DFA Srinagar smash rivals, qualify for semis

JAMMU, Jan 4: J&K Bank XI, Lone Star Kashmir Football Club and DFA Srinagar smashed their rivals in their respective quarterfinal matches and qualified for the semifinal stage of the ongoing XXIII State Football Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College football ground here today.
In the first quarterfinal match, J&K Bank XI defeated DFA Baramulla by straight three goals to zero (3-0) and secured berth in the semis of the Championship.
In the first half, players of both the team strived hard to raise the scoreboard, but failed.
In the second half, Toufeeq of J&K Bank XI netted the first goal of the match in the 28th minute and raised the lead on opponent team by 1-0 goal. In 50th minute, Umer of J&K Bank XI with his good footwork scored the goal and brought the opponent team under pressure of 2-0 goals.
The aggressive Aman Thapa of J&K Bank XI netted the goal in the 66th minute and raised the scoreboard to 3-0 goals, which the opponent DFA Baramulla team players failed to equalize till the end of the match and J&K Bank XI registered win by straight 3-0 goals and entered into semifinal stage of the Championship.
In the second quarterfinal match, Lone Star Kashmir FC crushed the last year winner of the 22nd State Football Championship J&K Police XI team via tie breaker.
In the first and second halves, players of Lone Star Kashmir FC and J&K Police XI sweated well to raise the lead but failed and the match ended with no goal.
In tie-breaker, Farhan, Wasiq, Amir, Faisal from Lone Star KFC netted the goals, while as from J&K Police XI side, Ajay and Bendral managed to score the goals.
Lone Star Kashmir FC registered win over J&K Police XI by 4-2 goals and entered into semifinal round of the Championship.
In the third and last quarterfinal match of the day, DFA Srinagar trounced AG’s Office XI by 4-3 goals and qualified for the semis of the Championship.
In the first and second half, players of both the team could not manage to net even a single goal and in the extra time (15 minutes), they too failed. In tie-breaker, Irfan, Shayik and Feroz from DFA Srinagar scored goals, while as Khalid, Qasir, Bilal from AG’s FC XI netted goals and equalized the scorebaord.
In Sudden death, Amir of DFA Srinagar netted the goal but Amir Farooq of AG’s Office XI missed and thus the match was won by DFA Srinagar by 4-3 goals.
In tomorrow fixture, the fourth quarterfinal match will be played between J&K Forest and Young Rovers. The semifinal matches will be played on January 6.
