JAMMU, Oct 14: Girls team of Jammu and Kashmir brought laurels to the State by winning the overall Champion Trophy in the 13th Cadet and 18th Sub-Junior Fencing Championship held at Gwalior.
A continent of 43 boys and girls fencers was accompanied by senior coach Shotu Lal Sharma, Technical Official Rashid Ahmed, Ujjwal Gupta and Ajay Khartol.
The girls’ fencers’ won overall Sub-Junior Trophy with 24 points by defeating champions of champions Manipur team.
The team including Shriya Gupta, Kritharthi Kotwal and Ananaya Sharma got Gold medal in Sabre team event, whereas in epee team event, J&K players Raghi Verma, Twinkle and Namardha Thakur bagged Silver medal. In Sabre Individual event, Shriya Gupta got Gold medal and Kritharthi Kotwal secured Silver medal.
J&K Amateur Fencing Association congratulated the fencers and applauded the contribution of coaches and senior players for bringing laurels to the State, Association and J&K Sports Council. The J&K Amateur Fencing Association assured full cooperation in further improvement of the fencing game.
