J&K bags 12 medals in Tri-Nation Sqay C’ship

SRINAGAR, Feb 11: Keeping with the tradition of making State proud in its traditional martial art event, J&K Sqay players bagged 12 medals in the recently held Tri-Nation Sqay championship held at Royal Academy of Art, Thimphu in Bhutan.
Being part of Indian contingent in the event, J&K players made it sure to keep their tradition of giving good show in their own traditional sport by winning maximum medals.
It was tri-nation event in which players from India, Nepal and hosts Bhutan participated.
The event was inaugurated by the Lyonpo Namgay Dorji, Finance Minister of Bhutan.
In the event, Indian team bagged the overall championship while as players from J&K bagged 12 medals which included six gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Raasiq, Usmaan, Diksha Devi, Salma Rashid, Ahsaan Ul Haq and Mudasir Sofi bagged gold, while as Suhail, Aafaq Abbas, Mehran Naseer and Arshid clinched silver medals and the bronze medals were claimed by Yamin Fayaz  and Irshad  Ahmad.
Hailing the JK players, Grand Master Mir Nazir, who is also founder of the Sqay martial art said that he was pleased to see J&K players bouncing back in this sport.
Meanwhile, J&K Sqay Association has congratulated the players for the brilliant show and has announced felicitation function in their honour.
