JAMMU, Dec 25: Jammu and Kashmir were at 59 for 1 at stumps on Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Assam at GGM Science College Hostel ground here today.
Opener Suryansh Raina was unbeaten on 15 and Shubam Khajuria on 10 were at the crease when the stumps were drawn today.
Bad light and inclement weather conditions forced the umpires to draw the stumps only after 18 overs of play today.
Earlier put into bat by Assam skipper Gokul Sharma, Jammu and Kashmir openers Ahmed Banday and Suryansh Raina played sensibly in gloomy weather conditions and scored 44 runs, before Banday was dismissed by speedster Arup Das at his individual score of 31 runs in 48 balls, studded with four crispy boundaries.
Arup was the only successful bowler from Assam, who took one wicket by conceding 34 runs in his 9 overs.
This is third Ranji Trophy contest for Jammu and Kashmir in this season. They have won both the matches played earlier against Uttarakhand and Maharashtra.
