JAMMU, Oct 22: Promising batsman Jatin Wadhawan slammed a power-packed century (109) as JKP XI defeated Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor by a 51 runs in the 6th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by SCC Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JKP XI rode on a swashbuckling ton by Jatin and quick-fire 73 runs by Farooq to score a mammoth total of 236 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Jatin scored 109 runs off 56 balls, studded with 13 crispy boundaries and 4 massive sixes, while Farooq scored 73 runs off 30 balls with 7 sixes and 5 fours. Nishu also chipped in with 20 off 9 balls with 1 six and 2 boundaries. For SCC, Sanjay took 2 wickets and Gourav claimed one.
In reply, SCC managed to score 185 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 51 runs. Rahul Mani top scored with 79 runs off 36 balls, studded with 5 fours and 9 sixes, while Pankaj and Abitash contributed 23 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For JKP XI, Satish Kumar and Ambrose scalped 3 wickets each, while Vishal claimed one wicket. For his splendid ton, Jatin was adjudged man of the match and was presented a cash prize of Rs 1500.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma as umpires, while Lucky was the scorer.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president of the Club.
