Jarry adjudged best speaker in intra-college symposium

UDHAMPUR, Sept 19 : Jarry Raina of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, adjudged best speaker in a symposium held on “Ozone Layer” Its Importance, Depletion and Remedial Measures” organized by Government College for Women, Udhampur in collaboration with State Council of Science and Technology Udhampur unit in the college here today.
As many as, 20 students participated in the contest. Miss Jaspreet Kour and Miss Navpreet Kour were given second and third prizes respectively while Monika Thakur, Poonam Chaoudhary and Manvi Mahajan were given consolation prizes.
Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani was the chief guest on this occasion.
Wani appreciated the efforts of the organizers for organizing such activities and called upon the students to act as an ambassador for educating the people in their surroundings about the importance of ozone layer for survival of mankind.
Later, Principal, Degree College, Boys Udhampur Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal GDC, Ramnagar, Prof. Kusum Gupta and Principal of the host institution, Dr. Yudhvir Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the topic.
Cash prizes and certificates of merit were also distributed among the winners. HoD Chemistry, Prof. Arun Sharma presented vote of thanks.
Among others, District Coordinator, Sanjay Kharoo, District Information Officer, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Udhampur, District Officer, JKEDA, Dr. P.K. Sharma, Associate Professor, Govt. PG College Udhampur, Dr. S.K. Magotra were present on the occasion.
