JAMMU, Jan 3: Jammu’s first Football fest, organised by Batra Group and Pegasus Sports Academy, commenced at Mini Stadium Football Ground Parade, here today.
The event was kicked off by Bhisham Batra, Director Batra Group and president Pegasus Sports Academy. In the Football fest a total of 20 teams are participating in a knockout tournament.
On the inaugural day, Young Heroes defeated Vijay Football Club in a penalty shootout, while FC United Kathua defeated Young Rovers and Ascoms FC was given a walkover.
Bhisham Batra said, “We are happy to see the response from both boys as well as girls teams and our main focus is to develop Football culture in Jammu and also give our local players a chance to play regular Football.”
In previous tournaments, we have seen many teams get players from outside the UT of J&K especially Punjab and Delhi and this culture was demoralising our young players, he added.
