JAMMU, Apr 21: Students of Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu, brought laurels to the institution by securing the first prize at “Sunshine Snacks: A Picnic Basket Competition” organised by Jammu Pariyatan Vikas Cooperative Limited (JPVCL) in collaboration with the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu. The event was organised at the picturesque Jhajjar Kotli.
The competition aimed at inculcating the concept of picnics among school students while promoting travel-friendly, sustainable and creative food practices. Participants showcased innovative and healthy picnic baskets with an emphasis on presentation and thematic concepts.
A large number of students from reputed schools across Jammu participated with great enthusiasm. Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu stood out for its creativity and execution, with students Jasleen, Nidiya, Shruti and Ashneer securing the first position under the mentorship of Rashi Gupta, Asst. Coordinator Middle Wing and Sushma Jamwal, PGT Fashion Studies.
The event was graced by chief guest Riyaz Ahmed, General Manager, JKTDC who appreciated the students for their creativity and highlighted the importance of organising such activities in serene natural environments. The guest of honour advocate VK Magoo, Former Assistant Solicitor General of India and Former Chairman JK Housing Corporation also lauded the organisers for promoting innovative learning beyond classrooms.
The competition was judged by an eminent panel including Prof Komal Nagar, (TBS, University of Jammu), Sukriti Vaid, founder director Adivyom and Pawandeep Singh Mehta, owner Kashmir Innovative Craft. Principal cum Vice-Chairperson, Rohini Aima, expressed immense pride in the students’ achievement.
