JAMMU, June 9: With motto, ‘Run for a Greener Environment’, Jammu Sanskriti School here today organized Vrukshathon 2.0, a community marathon.
The event featured 3 km and 5 km marathon categories and was graced by Shiv Kumar, DIG, JKS Range as chief guest.
The event was also graced by Shweta Mittal, Sonia Sawhney, Kanupriya Garg, Shipra Aggarwal and Manisha Sharma, renowned in the field of Marathon.
A plantation drive was also organised on this occasion where students and guests planted saplings.
The marathon saw participation across age groups and the winners were honoured in a prize distribution ceremony which marked conclusion of the event.
In 5 km category (8-12 years) boys, Amitoj stood 1st and Advik 2nd while among girls, Litya stood 1st and Avleen 2nd.
In 13-14 years category (boys), Pragnya stood 1st, Reyansh 2nd and Aarush 3rd. Harman got consolation prize. Among girls, Kavita stood 1st, Manmeet 2nd and Avani 3rd. Archana got consolation prize.
In 15-18 years category, Aditya stood 1st, Adip 2nd and Aditya Verma got consolation prize.
In 3 km category, for 8-12 years, boys, Pranav got 1st prize, Deepanshu 2nd and Mankeerat 3rd while Nikhil got consolation prize. Among girls, Mamta got 1st prize, Abhiti 2nd, Meghna 3rd and Ashiya got consolation prize.
In adult category, 5 km boys, Nitan Chandel got 1st prize, Aditya 2nd, Harish 3rd and Sunny Kumar got consolation prize. Among girls, Goldi Dogra got 1st prize, Anupama Sharma 2nd, Reema 3rd and Pooja Sharma got consolation prize. Shweta Kohli and Nisha also got consolation prize.
In 3 km category, Renu Randhawa got 1st prize, Tanvi 2nd, Surbhi Gupta 3rd and Vernika 4th prize.
Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson, Jammu Sanskriti School said that Vrukshathon isn’t just about running-it’s about direction towards health, awareness and sustainability.
