Jammu, Poonch girls lift hockey titles

JAMMU, Oct 20: Jammu district eves and the girls of district Poonch clinched the Under-19 and Under-17 titles in the Inter District State Level Hockey Championship, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at  KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here today.
In all, 97 girls drawn from various districts of State took part in the Championship.
The Championship was organised  by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of annual calendar of sports activities under the patronage of  Jehangir Mir, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director and Sukhdev Raj, DYSSO Jammu.
In Under-19 girls final, Jammu thrashed Baramulla by three goals to nil (3-0). Payal scored 2 goals and Pravleen netted one for Jammu District, while Poonch defeated Jammu District by two goals to nil  (2-0) in Under-17 girls final. Ishtia and Abhilove scored one goal each for their team.
The matches were officiated by Gurmeet Singh, Satvinder Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Jajjit Singh.
