Jammu outplays Poonch in opening tie of State Korfball C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 27: District Jammu defeated District Poonch by a convincing margin in the inaugural match of the 12th State Korfball Championship, being organized by J&K Korfball Association, which got underway at Green field No-1, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Jammu defeated Poonch by a convincing margin of 10 goals (14-4). The half time score was (8-1) in favour of Jammu district. For Jammu District, Irfan was the top scorer with 6 goals, while Ashwini scored 4 and Sonia 2 goals. From Poonch, Rohit and Shamsher scored two goals each.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Tarlok Singh, retired Divisional Youth Services and Sports Officer and president J&K Korfball Association in an impressive and well attended function and K S Rishi, president J&K Korfball Association. General secretary of the Association,  Manjeet Singh, R K.Sharma, secretary and joint secretaries V P.Sharma and Desh Bandhu were also present on the occasion.
Twelve districts of the State are participating in the Championship.
