JAMMU, Apr 25: Department of Youth Services and Sports, district Jammu, today commenced the inter-district UT level U-17 Football Tournament under the banner “League of Classics” at Khel Gaon, Nagrota.
Organized under the patronage of Director General YSS J&K UT, Anuradha Gupta, and guided by Joint Director YSS Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, the tournament is being held under the overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
The five-day tournament has drawn participation from all districts of the Union Territory, with around 300 young players competing. The event began with a collective pledge themed “Kick Nasha”, promoting a drug-free lifestyle among youth.
In the opening day fixtures, Rajouri defeated Ramban 8-0, with Dakash and Danish scoring three goals each. Kupwara beat Baramulla 4-1, with Malik Irsalan, Adnan and Faizan Malik scoring one goal each. Jammu registered a 4-1 win over Anantnag, courtesy of two goals each by Syed Anwar and Kaya Kalsi.
In another match, Budgam edged past Pulwama 2-1, with Kamran and Robani scoring for Budgam, while Fozan netted the lone goal for Pulwama.
