Jammu District makes clean sweep, lifts title

JAMMU, June 18: Jammu District made clean sweep and lifted the title trophy in the State Level Inter-District Tug-of- War Championship, which concluded at Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Gadigarh, here today.
Jammu district defeated Samba district by two sets to nil (2-0) in the summit clash, while in the semifinals, Jammu got better of Poonch in a close contest by two sets to one (2-1) and Samba prevailed over Srinagar by (2-0) sets.
President of J&K Tug-of-War Association, Hardeep Singh Anand was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed trophies and certificates among the winners and runners-up teams.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stressed upon the players to  take active part in sports and games and appreciated the participants for take part in the  tournament.
He also thanked Jasvir Singh, Chairman Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Garigarh for providing venue and boarding and lodging facilities.
Prominent among those present on the concluding function were Jodh Singh Isher, joint secretary of the Association, Ajay Peshin, Deepjot Singh Anand and Ravinder Singh Sasan, general secretary, J&K Tug-of-War  Association. Later-on, Anand invited all the players and officials for a dinner at Hotel Asia.
