JAMMU, June 26: Abid Hussain bagged gold medal in open men 100 meters sprint race, while promising athlete from BSF Senior Secondary School, Paloura, Jammu, Aryaaveer Singh claimed gold in 1000 meters and silver in 400 meters race as Jammu District Athletic Championship concluded at MA Stadium, here.
Prominent Schools and Clubs drawn from district Jammu participated in the event and vied for the top honours.
In Under-16 boys Shot Put, Rajat Sudan bagged gold and Rajveer Singh clinched silver, while in Under-18 boys long jump, Piyush Kuamr, Amarjeet Singh and Varun Kumar claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In open men’s category 100 meters sprint, Abid Hussain, Piyush Kuamar and Tarun Chib bagged first, second and third place respectively, while in open women’s category 200 meters race, Aditi Aryan, Pooja Sharma and Kiran Devi claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In Under-16 1000 meters boys, Aryaaveer, Brijesh Kumar and Swastik Sharma won gold, silver and bronze respectively.
The Athletic event was officiated by Shams Din, Gursharan Singh, Chamail Singh, Nirmal Singh, S Smabyal and Surinder Singh.
SS Gill, Ex-Chief Coach BSF was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners in the valedictory function.
