JAMMU, May 22: Outplaying districts Srinagar and Udhampur in the summit clashes, District Jammu lifted the title trophies in Inter-District Under-14 Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament on the concluding day at M A Stadium, here today.
In Under-14 girls final, Jammu district drubbed Udhampur by (18-07) in an easy contest to win the title, while in Under-14 boys final, Jammu got better of Srinagar by (16-06) to lift the title.
The third place in boys section went to district Samba, beating Baramulla by (14-2).
Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed medals and trophies among the winners and runners-up teams.
The competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of Annual Calendar of Activities, under the patronage of its Director General, Navin Agarwal.
While addressing the participants, Mr Agarwal said that winning and losing is the part of game and the important thing is to participate with sporting spirit, adding that the sport of basketball required tremendous amount of co-ordination and skill.
