Jammu boys win Under-19 football title; Reasi fencers shine

JAMMU, Oct 10: District Jammu lifted Under-19 boys football and Under-17 boys badminton titles, while the fencers of district Reasi claimed maximum medals in the Divisional Level Inter-District Tournaments in the disciplines of fencing, badminton and football, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Sanjeev Verma, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function and distributed prizes among the teams and individuals on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ID Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Physical Education, University of Jammu and MM Joshi, Ex Wing Commander.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Jammu stressed upon the students to play the game with sporting spirit and said that sports and games inculcate discipline among the students.
Earlier, Jammu defeated Udhampur in Under-19 boys football finals by two goals to nil (2-0), while in Under-17 boys badminton final, Jammu beat Kathua by (2-0) games, while in fencing Reasi district won the maximum, followed by Jammu and Udhampur district respectively.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Jammu.
