JAMMU, Feb 13: Trouncing their rivals convincingly in their respective semi-finals, Jammu Blue and Poonch have sealed their berth in the final and will lock horns against each other tomorrow in the ongoing Hockey J&K UT championship, 2020 at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium here.
The championship is being organised by Hockey J&K, sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC). The motto of the tourney is ‘Say No To Banned Drugs and Substances’.
The first match was inaugurated by Rajiv Sharma, a noted industrialist. Speaking on the occasion he said our organization intends to promote hockey in J&K through Hockey J&K. It needs special attention of society too.
In first semi-final, Poonch outplayed Baramulla by a comfortable margin of 6 goals to zero. Matinder Pal Singh,wearing jersey no. 6 scored 2 goals in 4th and 58th minutes, Mukesh Kumar scored goal in 13th minutes, Agrim Raina scored goal in 29th minutes, Salil Raina scored goal in 51st minute while Jagmeet Singh scored goal in 39th minute of the game for Poonch. Whereas the rival team Baramulla failed to open account.
In 2nd match, Jammu Blue defeated Jammu Red with a margin of 7goals to 2 with Maganjot Singh scored 4 goals for Jammu Blue in 8th, 13th, 36th and 53rd minutes, Suraj Malik scored 3 goals in 28th,42nd, 55th minutes while Hridey scored 2 goals in 23rd and 38th minutes of the game for Jammu Red.
The matches officiated by umpire included Brajesh Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Salim, Manish Kumar of Hockey India. Gurmeet Kour, Anjali, Talib Hussain were part of technical team.
Prominent other who presented during the event were Dr Taran Singh Secretary General Hockey J&K, Rajinder Singh Kuku, Gurdip Singh Sangral, Talib Hussain,. Azad Wani and Angat Singh.
