GAD constitutes committee to verify all appointments under SRO 349 since 2000

JAMMU, Feb 13: Taking serious note over the alleged illegal and backdoor appointment made under the SRO-349 (Sports quota), the General Administration Department (GAD) today constituted a three members committee to verify all the appointments made under sports quota in various Government Departments since 2000.
On the direction of Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu, Deputy Secretary to the Government, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, issued an order with vide Government order No: 228-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 13/02/2020 wherein, he constituted a three members committee comprising of Administrative Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Secretary of J&K Sports Council and Additional Secretary Vigilance of the GAD.
‘The committee will have to submit its report to the Government by March 31, 2020,’ the order read.
When contacted to Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC), Javaid Ahmad Choudhary told that since last many years, we had not published any notification for any recruitment of sportspersons nor recommended any sports persons’ name to the General Administration Department for the Government jobs.
“The reason for it was that the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had stayed the recruitment process under the SRO-349 and the case is still under consideration of the court”, said Choudhary.
The Secretary further said that as per the norms, every year the JKSC could be recommended 25 sportspersons for the Government jobs who have brought laurel for the J&K by clinching medals in National and International level but due to the court case, we have not recommended any sports person name from last five years for any jobs.
Reliable sources informed Excelsior that due to close proximity with power corridor, some influential persons had succeeded to get the Government jobs under the sports quota (SRO 349) through backdoor channel in different departments, that too at higher post and alleged that most of them were belongs to the Kashmir division.
Sources further said that the Power Development Department had recently suspended one person, posted at Junior Engineer post while six others engineers’ documents were seized for the verification by department concerned who were appointed under SRO-349 by illegal manner, backdoor channel.
“Since 2000 nearly more than two dozen persons have reportedly been recruited in various department under the sports quota that too with the help of formers ministers and corrupt bureaucracy”, alleged sources while wishing anonymity.
