Zone Arnia emerges winner in Volleyball U-14

JAMMU, Sept 25: Department of Youth Services and Sports today conducted Inter-Zonal District Level tournament matches in the disciplines of Volleyball and Cricket at Khel Gaon Nagrota, here.
About 300 participants of14 Zones of Jammu district took part in U-14, U-17 and U-19 (boys) categories in the ongoing tournament.
Zone Arnia emerged as winner and succeeded to win U-14 trophy in Volleyball by beating Zone Satwari by 2-0 whereas semi-final match were played between Zone Arnia and Zone Marh wherein Zone Arnia defeat the opponent team by 2-1.
In Volleyball U-17 category the Zone Jourian defeated Miran Sahib, Zone Akhnoor beat Satwari and Zone RS Pura trounced Miran Sahib by 2-1, 2-0 & 2-1sets respectively.
In Volleyball U-19 category, the Bhalwal, RS Pura, Dansal and Jourian emerged winners against Bishnah, Akhnoor, Chowki Choura and Satwari by 2-0, 2-0, 2-0 & 2-1 sets respectively.
Cricket U/19 category, the Zone Dansal beat Zone Satwari by 8 runs whereas Miran Sahib trounced Chowki Choura by 8 wickets.
Batting first Zone Dansal made 87 runs in 10 stipulated overs. Ashutosh scored 22 runs while Yuvraj remained not out. For Satwari Zone, Harvinder clinched 2 wickets.
In reply, Zone Satwari bundled out on 80 runs. Varinder made maximum 24 runs.
The second match of the tournament was played between Zone Miran Sahib and Zone Chowki Choura wherein Miran Sahib emerged winner by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Chowki Choura scored 59 runs wherein Harsh made 23 runs while chasing the target Miran Sahib made 60 runs by losing 2 wickets in eight overs. Taranpreet scored 27 runs whereas Jahavir made 24 runs for Miran Sahib.
SHO Nagrota Mohd Shokwat was the chief guest of the tournament.
