LEH, Sept 26: The Sports Committee of Government Degree College, Nubra is organising a one-week Intra-Mural Sports Competition from today to September 30 at the college campus.
The event commenced with condolence to Late Tsetan Dolma (Ice-hockey player) and Late Rigzen Lamo (Footballer) who lost their lives in a recent road accident.
Director of Physical Education and Sports/ Convenor Sports Committee, Dr Tsering Spalzom delivered the welcome note. While addressing the participants, she appreciated and encouraged for active participation of all the students with great enthusiasm in the various sports events organised by the sports committee.
Principal, GDC Nubra, Dr Tsewang Motup stressed the active participation of the students in various activities being organised by the different committees of the college and particularly in the sports events as it will help in building team spirit and overall personality development.
The week-long intra-mural sports competition of the college started with the carrom competition, where eight teams with 16 players took part in the competition.
In the final match Stanzin Tashi (3rd Semester) and Aasiya Bano (1st semester) came out as the winner and Murtaza Ali (3rd Semester) and Faranaz Bano (3rd Semester) were the runners-up in the tournament.
