JAMMU, Mar 7: To commemorate International Women’s Week, Smt Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies, MIER College of Education organized two very stimulating and inspiring activities namely; ‘Women Poetic Symposium in Hindi’ and a ‘Women Oriented Movie Show’.
The programme started with a welcome address by Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER. She expressed gratitude to Radio Kashmir for organizing such a thought provoking activity at MIER. She informed the audience that the Centre for Women Studies celebrates International women’s day every year with zeal and enthusiasm in one form or the other. It is a befitting tribute to Shanti Gupta, after whose name the centre has been named as she herself was a poetess of high repute.
The poetic symposium was organized in collaboration with Radio Kashmir, Jammu. Twelve prominent women poets who participated in the sammelan included Rita Jitender, Krishna Gupta, Anila Singh Charak, Yogita Yadav, Aruna Sharma, Neera Sharma, Kiran Kanchan, Sonia Upadhayay, Anita Mehta, Sharda Sawhney, Shakunt Deepmala and Prof Chanchal Dogra. The poetic symposium was conducted by Prof Chancha Dogra and presided over by Rita Jitender.
