JAMMU, Nov 17: Inter School Volleyball Tournament was inaugurated today at Government Higher Secondary School, Bahu Fort, Jammu.
The Tournament is being organized under Civic Action Programme by IRP 10th Battalion headquartered at DPL Jammu under the aegis of J&K Police.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with the Saraswati Pujan, Veda Mantras, rhyming of patriotic songs by the students and illumination of traditional divine lamps (Jyoties) by Vijay Kumar (SSP) IPS Commandant IRP 10th Battalion, Sham Sunder Sharma, SSP APCR Jammu and Tarseem Lal Chief Education Officer, Jammu.
In addition to this various officers of Education Department including Principal, ZEO, lecturers and other prominent citizens of the area besides senior police officers were present on the occasion.
The Commandant, Vijay Kumar (IPS) while addressing the gathering stated that the main purpose of organizing the tournament is to promote sports talent among the youth.
At the end of matches played by the various schools, tea, snacks, biscuits, were served to the prominent persons, and refreshment to the participating students.
