JAMMU, Aug 2: Inter-School District Level Tournament for boys Under-19 years in the sports disciplines of Badminton, Yoga, Thang-Tha, Wushu, Sqay, Judo, Gymnastics, Fencing and Weightlifting for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today, while Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament culminated at Sports Stadium, Samba today.
150 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District took part in the competitions, while 218 girls participated in the competitions held at Samba.
The events were organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director. Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu and Sunil Kumar, DYSSO Samba were the Organising Secretaries.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams of Jammu and Samba Districts for the next level of competitions.
In Thang Tha boys Under-19 years, the gold medals in various weight categories went to Vishal Kumar of SN School, Sumeet of GHSS Jhiri, Rohit of GHS of Janipur, Abhishek of GHSS Jhiri and Vishal Kumar of BHMP.
Today’s Result Badminton Boys Under-19 years boys final, Ranbir HSS beat APS Kalu Chak by 2-0 sets to win the title, while in Judo Under-19 years, Ritik Raina of Shastri Memorial, Abhayar Singh of SOS, Aareen Kotwal of Tiny Tots, Ritik Thakur of Jammu Public and Paramveer Singh of KNIT clinched gold medals.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
At Sports Stadium Samba, Vijaypur zone defeated Purmandal Zone by 4-2 points in Kho-Kho Under-14 girls, while Purmandal zone got the better of Vijaypur zone again by 4-2 points in Kho-Kho Under-17 girls.
In Kabaddi Under-14 girls, Samba zone drubbed Vijaypur zone by 43-33 points, while in Kabaddi Under-17 girls, Vijaypur zone trounced Ghagwal zone by 35-20 points.
In Volleyball Under-14 girls, Purmandal zone defeated Vijaypur zone by 2-0 sets, while in Volleyball Under-17 years girls, Purmandal zone drubbed Ghagwal zone by 2-0 sets.
