JAMMU, Apr 23: The zonal level inter-school tournaments were in full swing in various zones, here today.
In Jammu zone, the tournament was held under the supervision of ZPEO, Jammu, while Kamala Kumari, Principal GHSS Bakshi Nagar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Volleyball Under-17 boys final was won by KC Public School, defeating Model Academy by (3-1) sets, while in Under-14 volleyball final, KC Public got better of Model Academy by (2-0) sets.
In kabaddi Under-14 final, MS Kachi Chawni got better of MS Dhonthly by (17-8) points, while in kabaddi Under-17 final, SRML defeated Hari Singh HSS by (25-21) points.
HSS Nowabad defeated HSS Sarwal by (2-1) points in kho-kho Under-17 final, while in kho-kho Under-14 final, MS Rehari prevailed over SOS by (3-2).
In wrestling, Pawn claimed Under-14 32 kg gold, while Gourav and Deepak bagged Under-17 boys 54 kg and 58 kg gold respectively.
A total of 566 boys participated in the tournament.
Zonal level Inter-school tournaments in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabbadi, volleyball for boys and girls and wrestling for boys Under-14 and Under-17 boys commenced in City Middle School R S Pura today.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of Hira Lal Pandita, Zonal Physical Education Officer R S Pura.
Nirmal Singh, Principal Boys HSS R S Pura was the chief guest in the inaugural function of the tournament, while Surjit Singh, Vice Principal, Kamal Singh, Lecturer Mathematics and Madhu Bala Headmaster City Middle School were special guests on the ocasion.
In kho-kho Under-17 boys, HSS Chakroi beat GHSS Sai by 1 point, while in kho-kho Under-14 boys BMS Mill Area got better of City Middle school R S Pura by 4 points.
In kabaddi Under-17 boys, HSS R S Pura trounced BHS Rangpur by 8 points and HS Biyaspur outplayed HSS Dablehar by 7 points.
In volleyball Under-17 boys, HSS R S Pura beat HS Biyaspur by 2-0.
In kabbadi Under-14 boys, HS Basti Gulab Garh beat HS Badyial by 16 points and HS Seerbala outclassed City Middle School by 7 points.
The inter-school tournament of Miran Sahib zone in the disciplines of kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball Under-14 and Under-17 girls got underway at Government Boys High School, Simbal Camp.
As a part of annual calendar of activities of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the tournament was declared open by Sarita Padha, zonal physical education officer, Miran Sahib.
Those who were present on the occasion were Kiran Bala, Headmaster Govt BHS Simbal Camp, Surinder Kour, Pankaj Sharma, Gourav and Harmik Singh.
In kho-kho Under-17 girls, Govt High School Kotli-Mian Fateh beat JK Police Public School Miran Sahib by (7-6) points. Kajol and Arti were the best performers.
In other kho-kho matches, Govt Girls Hr Sec School Miran Sahib beat Govt Girl High School Simbal Camp by (8-4), wherein Swati and Pryanka performed well and Govt Boys High School Simbal Camp defeated Govt Hr Sec School Miran Sahib by (16-8) points. Harneet and Noor Jahan remained the main scorers.
In kho-kho Under-17 girls final, Govt Boys High School Simbal Camp drubbed Govt High School Kotli-Mian Fateh by (6-3) points., while in kho-kho Under-14 girls final, JK Police Public School, Miran Sahib beat Govt Middle School Kotli Shah Dullah By (3-2) points, in which Rijat and Sonia was the star performers.
In kabaddi Under-17 girls, Govt Boys High School Simbal Camp thrashed GGHSS Miran Sahib by (22-6) points, while JK Police Public School Miran Sahib outplayed Govt High School Kotli-Mian Fateh by (40-30) points.
In kabaddi Under-14 girls, Govt Middle School Rattian prevailed over GHS Brij Nagar by (16-5) points, while in the finals, GHS Badyal beat GMS Rattian by (17-6) points to win the Army Public School Miran Sahib beat Govt High School Kotli- Mian Fateh by (2-0) sets to win the volleyball Under-17 title, while in volleyball Under-14 final, Govt Boys High School Badyal drubbed Army Public School Miran Sahib by (2-0) sets.
The matches were officiated by Kulbir Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Ajit Kour, Anit Kour, Nisha Sharma, Jaswinder Kour, Sayda Parveen, Narinder Kour, Kuldeep Kour, Navneet Kour, Kusha and Ravinder Singh.
At Jorian zone, the inter-school tournament in the disciplines of kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho and cricket was held under the supervision of Veer Ji Bhat, zonal physical education officer, Jorian and was inaugurated by Ashok Kumar, headmaster HS Jorian.
In kabaddi Under-17 final, HSS Kharah defeated HSS Kaleeth by 12 points (28-16) in an easy contest, while in Under-14 boys, MS Ajal Malal drubbed MS Bandwal Colony by 19 points (39-20).
In volleyball Under-17 boys, HSS Pargwal trounced HSS Kharah by (2-1) sets, while HSS Jorian defeated HSS Pargwal again by (2-1) sets.
In cricket Under-16 boys, HSS Pargwal got better of HSS Kharah by 6 runs in a close contest and HSS Kaleeth defeated HSS Jorian by 2 wickets. The final will be played tomorrow.
The matches were officiated by Ramesh Choudhary, organizing secretary; Pritam Lal, Ramesh Chander, Sham Singh, Madan Lal, Parveen Kumar, Davinder Singh and Sushma Bali.
The inter-school tournament in girls section got underway at Akhnoor, under the supervision of Sher Singh, zonal physical officer, while CEO Akhnoor was the chief guest and Principal HSS Akhnoor was the guest of honour.
The matches were herld in kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball.
