UDHAMPUR, Apr 30: The four days Zonal Level Inter School Tournament of Zone Tikri commenced here at Swaran Model Academy Tikri in which 139 student players in the age group of Under-14 years boys drawn from different Govt./ Private institutions participated in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling and Yoga.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the overall supervision of Kharati Lal Sharma, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Udhampur in the presence of Veer Ji Bhat, Zonal Physical Education Officer Tikri.
Swaran Singh Jamwal Principal of Swaran Model Academy was the chief guest on the occasion who declared the tournament open and blessed the participating players for their best performances.
In Kabaddi Under-14 boys, Govt HS Hartayan defeated HS Jib by 21-15; while in Kho-Kho Under-14 boys, HS Jib defeated Sainik Cooperative School.
The matches were officiated by Kuldeep Sharma, Neelam Kumari, Ajay Sharma, Raj Kumar, Renu Thaplu, Rekha Kiran, Pushpinder Singh, Kulbushan Sharma, Mohinder Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Raman Gupta, Kafeel Ahmed, Shashi and Anita.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Udhampur conducted cricket trials in under-17 category for Zone Udhampur for the upcoming district level competition.
The trials took place under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Santosh Kumari.
In total, 46 boys from 15 educational institutions turned up for the selection process that took place under the guidance of technical penal including Ajeet Singh, Raj Kumar Gupta, Vinod Kumar, Ranjeet Singh, Vinod Kumar, Vikrant and Ved Parkash.
Among the officials present were Jaswinder Singh, Sanjay Gupta, Rajnu Badyal, Santosh Abrol and Kumari Nirmal.
