Inter-School sports competitions underway in Zone Jib

UDHAMPUR, May 8: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur, Zone Jib, organised inter-school zonal level competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 girls in Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Handball under the 2026-27 sports calendar.
A total of 442 students from 21 schools participated with enthusiasm and competitive spirit. As part of the programme, a drug-free pledge was administered under the “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” campaign, where students pledged to promote a healthy and addiction-free society.
In Volleyball (U-14), HSS Barta defeated HS Sattani by 2-0 sets. In Volleyball (U-17), APS Dhar Road secured a 2-0 win over GHS Jaganoo.
In Kho-Kho (U-14), HS Kawa defeated HS Laddan by 5 points, while in Kho-Kho (U-17), HS Kawa again triumphed over HS Laddan by 8 points, showcasing strong teamwork and agility.
Talent scouts Ajit Singh Bandral and Sanjay Sharma identified promising players for district-level selection based on performance.
Prominent officials present included Vinod Khajuria, Anita Goswami, Pushap Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Ramesh Sharma and Sunil Khajuria, who appreciated the participants’ performance. Handball trials were also conducted to shortlist players for upcoming district-level competitions.
