Inter-district UT level Karate C’ship kicks off in Kulgam

KULGAM, Nov 5: The inter-district UT level under-17 and under-19 Boys Karate Championship commenced at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, here today.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy SP (DAR) Kulgam, Mohd Ayoub, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Deputy SP Arun Gupta was also present during the inaugural ceremony.
Teams from 13 districts across J&K are participating in the tournament. Player reporting was completed a day earlier, on November 4. The event is being hosted by the Youth Services and Sports Department, under the overall supervision of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
The championship offers a golden opportunity for young athletes who have already excelled at the inter-school, inter-zone, and district levels. The best performers from this event will be shortlisted for the Jammu and Kashmir UT-level team, which will later represent the Union Territory at the national level.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy SP (DAR) emphasized that the Government is deeply committed to promoting sports and nurturing young talent. “Sports is not only about competition it’s about discipline, teamwork, and growth,” he said.
All ZPEOs of YSS Kulgam, especially Nisar Ahmed Wani and ZPEO DH Pora Abdul Majeed Rather was also present on the occasion.
