Inter District Handball Tourney gets underway

UDHAMPUR, May 21: A Provincial level Inter-District Handball Tournament for girls (Under 19 years) got under way at Mini Stadium, here today.
Three teams–Jammu Kathua and Udhmapur drawn from Jammu Province participated in the Tournament which is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur, under the patronage of Director Youth Service and Sports J&K Subhash Chander Chibber, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and under the overall supervision of Dharmveer Singh (DYSSO).
Sushma Devi (ZPEO Jib) along with Pushpinder Kour (ZPEO) and Sham Lal (ZPEO Ramnagar) interacted with the players while Sahil Singh Chib (Second Incharge SHO Udhampur) was the special guest on the occasion. In the opening ceremony, all the teams took oath and National Anthem was sung by players and all the spectators.
The final match of today was won by Jammu by 6-1 while Udhampur team secured runners-up trophy. The winner and runners-up teams were presented trophies by the special guest.
All the matches were officiated by Ajay Sharma, Bandna Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Vipin Potra, Ravi Kumar, Vikrant Balgotra, Vicky Kumar and Nitika Sharma.
Among others present on the occasion were Taqdeer Singh Charak (PEL), Jyoti Sharma (Selector from Jammu), Karun Magotra (NIS Handball), Rishi Kumar (Selector from Udhampur), Jaswinder Singh and Sanjeev Khajuria (Incharge, Udhampur team).
